Electronics

I apprenticed as a Radio/TV Technician and received my Journeyman's Certificate and Interprovincial Red Seal in 1978. For a few years I worked for several different Consumer Electronics Repair Shops in Edmonton, Alberta. Next, I became an owner/operator of my own shop for a few more years. Discouraged with the results, I downsized to what could be called self-employment for a total of 15 years on my own. For my efforts I didn't get rich, but received a wealth of business and management experience.

During my last couple of years in self-employment, I had been repairing computer monitors for several computer companies in Northeastern Alberta. One of these companies finally convinced me to return to the working world and repair monitors and computers for them on a full time basis. Not long after, a company called Future Vision Systems in Cold Lake, pulled me back into the field of Consumer Electronics servicing. I spent four years with them as their Senior Electronics Technician.

I am now employed with Proservice Electronics Group/Macrotronics(Cold Lake) as their Senior Electronics Technician. To top it all off, I was recently appointed to the Provincial Apprenticeship Committee for the Electronics Technician Trade in the Province of Alberta for a term of three years. In January 2004, I was invited to serve another consecutive term ending in January 2007.
